A job interview is one of the most stressful events for any individual. It is perfectly natural to be nervous before and during a job interview. Therefore, one might be highly relieved and positive after the job interview trusting that he/she will be picked out. Anyway, many employers think it as a plus point if the interviewee follows up with the company after the interview is over. Hence, there are some processes and measures that should be taken after the job interview to increase one s opportunities of getting selected.

The first thing to do after the job interview is to post a thank you letter to the person or the persons who interviewed oneself. This should normally be sent within the 24 after the job interview. In addition to this, the letter should be short and ordinarily one page will be sufficient. In this letter, one should thank the interviewers for their time and also state the post for which one is applying. The individual can also mention what he/she thinks about the interview in this letter. One could even describe briefly in one or two sentences why he/she is the better applier. Although using electronic mail to contact the interviewers may be much easier, it is always better to send a written or typed letter.

In addition to thanking the interviewers, after the job interview, one should be constantly informed about the status of one s application. If the employers require additional material including, transcripts and references, one should send them immediately. Usually, after the job interview, the applicant is given a date when they could look to hear from the employer. If by any chance one does not receive any response from the employer, it is appropriate to contact the employer regarding one s interview decision.

Mostly, applicants consider many job openings when looking for a job. Thus, one might accept a job while the interview decisions of the other employers are undone. At this point, the individual can politely inform the company that he/she is no longer willing to accept any possible job offer Moreover, one should thank the employer for considering him/her for the particular job position. Even though one is rejected for the particular job position, one should thank the employer and ask for any other job openings that are open. one should also remember that being rejected once does not mean that the individual has closed all the doors for any opprtunity.

Hence, after the job interview, it is necessary to follow these steps in order increase one s opportunities of being chosen.
